Homework Policy

How it works at Sacred Heart!

Homework refers to an assignment made by a teacher that positively reinforces a concept presented in class and includes both written and study assignments. The point of homework is to strengthen sills, review for a test, or evaluation. It is important to the next day's class that homework is completed on time. I It is important to the next day's class that homework is completed on time. Ample time should be allowed for the completion of out-of-class research assignments or projects by the parent. The school provides each student in Grades 2-8 with a required daily assignment book that should be checked by the parents every day. On a day when there is no homework assigned we encourage our students to read books.

All homework is posted daily on the board.

Grades 3-8:

SHORT TERM ASSIGNMENTS (due the next time you have that class ) are due on the announced date. Occasionally, extenuating circumstances will arise. In this instance, a one-day grace period will be allowed to complete the missing work. If work is not received the following school day, no credit will be given.

LONG TERM ASSIGNMENTS (due at least two days from the day it was given) are due on the announced date. Since you have plenty of notice for long term assignments, no grace day is given. You lose 20 points each day that it is late (not including the week-end.) At the end of 5 school days, the assignment is no longer accepted. If you are having trouble with an assignment, tell your teacher during the project, not on the day it is due.

If you are ill, you are given the same amount of time to make up all assignments and tests that you were out for and missed. Please see your teachers as soon as possible.

Grades 5-8 are required to sign a copy of the homework policy and return it to school.
